Untitled-2-01.png

Japanese contemporary artist Yayoi Kusama is known primarily for her sculpture and installation art. In 2002 her interactive Obliteration Room was exhibited at the Queensland Art Gallery in South Brisbane, Australia. Since then, it has been replicated several times within galleries and museums throughout the world.

This summer, for one night only, 2016 Main is putting its own spin on Kusama’s Obliteration Room as an homage to the visionary artist, and also to create a one-of-a-kind interactive masterpiece in the heart of the Crossroads District. At Obliterate.kc, we invite Kansas City to help us dot the town red… or blue, green, yellow… whatever color you want during our interactive art party. At the beginning of the event, each guest will be given his or her own packet of dots to use at ones own discretion to cover, transform… obliterate 2016 Main as we know it.

Chain of Hope

Chain of Hope (CoH) is a 501c3 grass roots organization with boots on the ground seven days a week, focused on alleviating the suffering of abused and neglected animals within the urban core of Kansas City, MO. Since 2010, the group has saved and improved the lives of thousand of animals in Kansas City, MO.

CoH provides necessary education, helping owners become aware of the crucial needs of their pets and promoting responsible pet ownership. CoH also provides medical assistance and free or low cost spay and neuter, as well as food, shelter, hay, ear gel, fly traps and flea & tick supplies for those in need. CoH rescues, rehabilitates, transfers and adopts out unwanted and homeless pets.

The group’s ultimate goal is to break the chain of ignorance, break the chain of suffering, and break the chain of unwanted litters.

Personally, the organization holds a very special place in the heart of the entire 2016 Main team as venue mascot, Ringo (beloved pet of venue owners Pat Galvin and Jodi Vander Woude) was rescued by and adopted from CoH. Ringo, and countless other animals, are proof of the critical work Chain of Hope does everyday.
